if you do not breathe through writing, if you do not cry out in writing, or sing in writing, then don't write, because our culture has no use for it. - anais nin

the ache of autumn.

the package was delivered early today.  it's boots' christmas gift to me.  in it was the book praying our goodbyes.  i flipped through the pages, wondering if this book would be able to tell me anything new, or if it could manage to convince my heart not to break at each goodbye.  and then, i saw her note — "in celebration of the many goodbyes that opened great doors of hellos…"

i couldn't help but smile.  what a nice way of looking at goodbyes.  but will we ever get used to saying goodbye?  to each parting?  especially to those we love?  even when we know there'll be another hello?

i guess not.  even when that goodbye is necessary.  even when we are the ones who chose it.  parting always leaves an empty space in us.  a longing in the soul.  a crack in the heart.

thank you, boots. i love the book.  =)

Envy is a sad little thing. It eats away at you, and makes you hate people you secretly wish you could become. -- Chin
