if i were in cebu, i'd be visiting papa nene's grave. he passed away a decade ago and sometimes, i wish he was still around.
i miss spending weekend afternoons with him at the family farm or at the beach. sometimes, we'd stay home and talk about politics over a gallon of ice cream. i miss our long drives together, usually from the house to the farm and back. or from the house to my aunt's office and back. he always had wonderful tales of his youth. my sisters and i would listen in awe.
he was the one who taught us how to play table tennis, change car tires, and sweet-talk our grandmother (so we could get extra cookie).
i know he is in a better place now. and even when i couldn't be with my family when they visit him in cempark tomorrow and on nov 1, i will be thinking about him.
oh, i always think about him.
i'm part of the four-people team who selected participants for the youth forum. it is quite inspiring to know that there are young people who are seriously giving their time and talent to preserve and protect the environment. the applicants from singapore are particularly impressive.
it's quite refreshing to see 16/18/19 year-olds spend their time in something worthwhile than engage themselves in catfights. or bother themselves with self-centered nonsense.
[the youth forum will be held simultaneously with the international congress].

it was my grandmother's birthday yesterday. i called to greet her.
"happy birthday, ma! are you happy?"
"thank you. i'm happy. but i would have been happier if you were here."
i miss my grandma.

my readership in this site is up to 20%. and i think i know why. haha. my friends told me that even the people who hate me read my blogs. how did i become so lucky? =P
got my canon rebel 400D almost two weeks ago. i'm so happy with it. today, i got my ultrasonic 90-300mm telephoto lens straight from japan. it has an international warranty card, so i'm not worried one bit.
my rebel and its 18-55mm lens haven't failed me yet. and right now, i'm so excited to test the telephoto lens and see how it'll perform.
i just know that the rebel and i will have great great adventures together.
our original plan was to go to a mango warehouse. but we were told that they're not open yet. so we headed off to angono, rizal for some artsy fartsy weekend. we needed this break. we've been working so hard the past weeks.
while we tremendously love the charm of angono, and the temptation of tiendesitas, it was the company that made today perfect. oh, and the food, too. =P

my saturday started with a visit from boots. we talked over breakfast. as usual, we love to share so many things — from childhood stories to the recent retreat she facilitated. i always learn something new from her.
